Hamasaki Ayumi TeamAyu blog - english translation at Gaijin Kanpai! J-pop, J-rock, Japanese music podcast

Happy New Year, everyone!

Very sorry for how long this has taken, and I realize I am INSANELY far behind once again. As a result, I'll be skipping a bunch of Ayu's blog entries. For the sake of being more up-to-date, my next installment of translations will only include the most recent entries. I apologize for those of you who didn't want me to skip any - believe me, I didn't want to either. But the entries HAVE been translated, so it's not like you'd be missing anything. I'll do my best to cover Ayu's recent trip to London to record and film a PV at the very least, since that's important.

In the meantime, this entry covers Christmas, Countdown Live, Kouhaku, and the lyrics to "RED LINE ~for TA~", from the "You were.../BALLAD" single.

Again - link, but do not repost. Keep in mind my limited Japanese skills, and feel free to submit corrections or help.

Thanks for your patience everyone. :)

Merry Christmas

Yesterday was so much fun-. The far-reaching flame being ultra-hot, everyone's sweat was dripping, but I think we did good out there!!!
With pure feelings, we enjoyed the sounds. The music.
So we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day inside this sparkling house again this year, so (haha) even now, I'm uploading photos.
Hang out with me for a second while I show you, hm~?♪
First, after combo rehearsal had ended, we had a sorta Christmas-party-thing with all the band members, dancers, and staff, but anyway the cake was just sooo cute! ~ <3
Here, take a look.

Today was the second day at Yoyogi actually, but anyway, even though the venue is so huge, I was feeling pretty good. lol
But, during the times when I felt tired, I didn't give up. What gave me strength was seeing everyone in front of me, people who work with everything they have.
That's one thing I'm very fortunate about. I'm surrounded by all those people who work with everything they have and complete their tasks, so in the end, I always try my best too.

☝This Ayupan Tower is always on top of the staff desk.
We keep it in the guest seating desk, so because it's in that certain place, you can see that there are alot of them there, I'm sure more than I saw. Thus, it never changes. Those sorts of things, like people, are always welcome, and very sacred things that you can't substitute. I think that I want to show them onstage. It would be unforgettable.

So...
I need a little nap.
But lastly, today...
I saw an angel, but (ready......go!)

At last,

31 December 2009 2:48 PM

It's the final day of 2009!!!!!
I wonder what kind of year you'll all have.
To everyone who's coming to Yoyogi today, and to everyone who'll be showing their support in front of the TV, no regrets - laugh and cry and sing and dance with all your might, wave your hands like crazy and say thank you to 2009, and then let's get started with the best year ever, alright?☆
Of course me & everyone here are waiting anxiously to blow the roof off the place!!! Let's go out there and put on a real show----------------------------------------------------!!!
Muwah <3

Revision☆
3 January 2010 5:21 AM

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone, move into it slowly.
Please be carefree, relax, and gently release the tension in both mind and body.
And congratulate with all your heart the self that hurried to reach the end of 2009, and gather up as much wisdom as your mind can hold as you as you walk, head held high, through this brand-new year, 2010!!!
Let's all walk together once again, everyone! <3

Well then, when looking back on New Year's Eve, I see that last year was unusually tense, but at the same time I felt a very strong sense of security. That feeling notwithstanding, being the top batter at Kouhaku Utagassen took some effort to accept.
It was great though, I got so many messages from everyone, and it made me so happy!♪
We all passed through the end-of-year activities with a hurried pace, but there was really only one thing we were all feeling - enjoyment that felt like we were dreaming!
Suddenly, the wind blew us in the direction of Countdown Live, and from there, things started going in an obvious upward trend.

Ah! Before that.
After my singing at Kouhaku finished, I got messages asking "are you okay!??!" from people who were worried because Zin-san was sorta supporting me with his arm at the end, but...
Eh, you know... my physical condition is totally fine, actually! Even I'm asking "what was that?" because we were just so pumped up after the singing was done, so I don't really have an explanation for those of you asking if I'm fine, lol.
I guess basically, Zin-san was just coming over to retrieve Ayu, the lost child~. So sorry about that! lol

I should mention, I just now remembered this, but we were practicing alot with the lift for Kouhaku (where they raise me up during the interlude♪), and from my butt down through my legs, some of my newly recruited dancers' fingers left all these bruises on me and it made me look like I had polka-dotted tights on or something. Looks like the New Year was carrying some remnants of work from the last year, huh? lol
We stopped doing that pretty fast, but honestly, my butt & legs hurt ALOT. But it's been a few days, so I'm comfortable talking about the pain now. Yeesh! XD
BUT!!! You can bet that after that one thing happening, those dancers will be holding me much more carefully when we do that kind of thing.
They all had to raise me up to a considerable height, so if everyone doesn't believe with all their hearts that they can do it, then when the time comes for the live broadcast, they won't be up for the challenge.
On top of it, the number of people doing the move had to increase from the number of people who did it on tour. Naturally, the dancers all had to have the same timing and synchronized breathing. So as the number of people who did the move increased, the amount of tension increased too.
Our thoughs & feelings all converged and gathered into Nii-yan's right hand and then appeared into reality, so, to the people who recorded show, I ask that you pay close attention to Nii-yan's hand between the interlude and when the first lift move is done.
Wonderful! You can enjoy it. lol (<-- It's no laughing matter, but I can already laugh about it. That said, everyone laughed hysterically seeing it at the venue. lol)

So once the performance was safely completed, things were a bit more cheerful. In the car on the way back to Yoyogi, I was with Kanako Bancho and Minazou and when we saw each other we were like "waaaahhh!!!" and Armageddon, in the front seat, called out
"THAT WAS AWESOME!!!"
in his husky voice.
Nice, Armageddon. Thanks. lol
But I was shocked by the volume of his voice. lol

And then, off to our holy place, where we greeted the end of 2009 and the start of 2010. Countdown Live!!!!!!!!
I felt that end-year mood, and without realizing it, I was telling myself what I wanted to become, and I poured my emotions into everything I sang, and that's how the show took form.
Of course there were still many parts that weren't quite ready yet! Still many things I wanted to study! But I think I'm being greedy wanting to perfect those things and I don't think I'd be able to in my whole life. I think it'd just never end.
Aaannnd, after the CDL show, Ohji and Shingo started things off with a moving sort of speeche, and then the band, dancers, staff, my friends, and everyone all partied all night until sunup. And then we saw the first sunrise of the new year together -- or, I should say, because of where we were we couldn't see the actual sunrise, so strictly speaking we saw the first sunlight of the year. lol
And for some reason, Yocchan and Maro-nii were always talking to each other, over their shoulders. lol
At that point everyone was already so tired they couldn't stand up, but no one was going home at all! Eventually it had been an insane amount of time, and the feeling of having achieved something was overflowing and sparkling all over all of us,  and I saw all the staff & members' faces, laughing, crying (and of course sleepy faces too), and it made my heart feel so warm, I couldn't help but cry. Sympathy tears, really.
Be that as it may, I've been working since New Years, my schedule constantly occupying a corner of my mind, but from the beginning to the end I think I keep very calm, if I do say so myself, lol.
It's like I become the mommy to everyone in the venue.

Then, I traveled through the town, where everything had become still and silent, I played with my babies and then fell asleep in a snap, but since getting up, the hints of "new years" mood have been gone and so I'm back starting work again. Just now, I finally had a chance to come on the website.
As for a break over New Year's, NOTHING!!!!!!!!
Despite that, I'm really doing what I love, so I feel complete. I'm happy.

To everyone who came to Yoyogi on the 30th and 31st, thank you truly.
To everyone who supported us by watching on tv, thank you truly.
To everyone who was reaching out, thank you truly. I'm hoping I'll be able to say these thank yous to all of you a year from now for 2010, so...☆

Well then, finally, the last thing I'm gonna post is the set list for countdown live and who did the choreography for each song, since I got lots of requests from everyone to do so.

RED LINE ~for TA~
4 January 2010 7:36 PM

We changed our tears into just one single prayer
On that day, at that moment, we saw a miracle; it wasn't an illusion

But maybe it's sad to just flow along with what's normal

Try to remember, when you feel hopeless
"The today that YOU decide to abandon
is the tomorrow that somewhere someone else didn't give up on."

The thing is, I am holding on
tightly, tightly to your hand.

Thus, the fact is, the sun will rise again
And I want to see such priceless moments.

You've got to stop being afraid somehow
And want to move forward one step at a time

Try to remember, when you hit a wall
"The today that YOU feel is defeating you
is the tomorrow that somewhere someone else was attacking head-on."

The thing is, no matter how far away your hand is
we still have a connection.

Try to remember, when you feel hopeless
"The today that YOU decide to abandon
is the tomorrow that somewhere someone else didn't give up on."

The thing is, I am holding on
tightly, tightly to your hand.

Try to remember, when you hit a wall
"The today that YOU feel is defeating you
is the tomorrow that somewhere someone else was attacking head-on."

The thing is, no matter how far away your hand is
we still have a connection.
